Work Health and Safety (WHS) Charter

At Junortoun Hire, we are committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, contractors, clients, and anyone who comes into contact with our operations. We recognize that the safety of our workplace is not only a legal obligation but also a fundamental part of our business success. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe working environment that supports the physical and mental health of everyone involved.

1. Commitment to Health and Safety

The leadership of Junortoun Hire is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety. We recognize that safety is a shared responsibility and are dedicated to providing the necessary resources to ensure a safe work environment. Our goal is to prevent accidents, injuries, and illnesses by fostering a culture of safety at all levels of our business.

2. Responsibilities

  • Employer Responsibilities: Junortoun Hire is responsible for ensuring that all safety protocols, training, and resources are provided to staff, contractors, and any other persons involved in our operations. We will ensure compliance with all relevant Work Health and Safety laws, regulations, and codes of practice.

  • Employee Responsibilities: Employees are expected to follow all WHS procedures and practices, report hazards, participate in safety training, and take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others.

  • Contractor and Visitor Responsibilities: Contractors, visitors, and any other stakeholders are expected to comply with our safety practices and procedures while on-site.

3. Health and Safety Goals

  • To reduce workplace incidents and injuries through effective risk management.

  • To ensure all staff and contractors are equipped with the knowledge and training to safely perform their tasks.

  • To continuously improve our WHS systems in line with current regulations and industry best practices.

  • To ensure that health and safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of our operations and decision-making.

4. Risk Management and Safety Procedures

We will proactively identify hazards, assess risks, and implement measures to prevent harm. This includes conducting regular safety audits, reviewing safety procedures, and encouraging employee input on safety matters. All risks will be managed according to industry standards and legal requirements.

5. Consultation and Engagement

We believe that the health and safety of our workplace is best achieved when everyone is involved. We will encourage open communication with our employees, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding health and safety matters. We will consult with employees on safety issues, involve them in decision-making processes, and encourage them to report safety concerns.

6. Training and Education

Junortoun Hire is committed to providing appropriate and ongoing WHS training to all employees and contractors. This includes induction programs for new staff, refresher courses, and specialized training where necessary. We will also ensure that employees are aware of their rights and responsibilities in relation to health and safety.

7. Continuous Improvement

We are committed to the continuous improvement of our work health and safety practices. We will regularly review and update our safety policies, procedures, and training to ensure they remain effective and compliant with relevant laws and industry standards. We will take corrective actions when necessary and encourage feedback from employees and contractors on how to enhance our WHS practices.

8. Reporting and Investigation

All workplace incidents, injuries, or near misses must be reported immediately. We will investigate all incidents thoroughly, identify their causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. We will also ensure that employees feel supported when reporting safety concerns without fear of retaliation.

9. Compliance with Legislation

Junortoun Hire is committed to complying with all applicable Work Health and Safety laws, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) and any state-specific legislation. We will ensure that our safety practices meet or exceed legal requirements.
